Church and Chamber

Sitting here in the kitchen of Paul and Corey Wagenast's incredible "By the Brook" Bed and Breakfast here in Canmore, Alberta. They and their four kids have graciously opened their seven bedroom - eight bathroom home to our family as Dar and I spend the next few weeks figuring out where we are going to be living here. I am thankful for these soul friends on the journey.

When it comes to housing, we have been asking God for more than we need. Reason being is our faith tells us we are going to be hosting many young leaders from many nations in our home. It's got nothing to do with what we can afford personally as one family. It has everything to do with the interdependent people of God always willing to lay down their rights to owning anything and living in infinite resignation to the will of our Father in heaven, in service to His Son, at the prompting of His Spirit.

It's dangerous when any of us become "entitled" to things rather than recognizing that we have only been "entrusted" with them. Being entitled typically breeds elitism, hierarchy, and destructive codependency of the "have's" being mildly entertained by the "have-not's". Being entrusted typically breeds humility among a people who are everywhere at home while having nothing and yet possessing everything.

Entitlement is dangerous. People entitled to their position. People entitled to their opinion. People entitled to watching the world through a box while the world burns and floods around them. People entitled to their smoldering wicks and dry places.

There is a reason why the rod comforts. Imagine the rod of God's discipline coming down upon the peaked roof church and crushing the structure while everyone is within. Those who don't know what is going on scatter. They run from the sacred blow. Others reach up for that rod as it falls upon them. They feel the weight of it's discipline and yet they hold onto the rod as it is lifted out of the church.

Hold onto that rod as it rises up hard and fast - and you will be flung to the ends of the earth into the places where there is a witness of His glory needed. If you cannot take the rod then you will never wear a crown.

This is something that is happening to the whole Church. Not just you and your's. We are being prepared for a day of battle. As far as this generation goes it is the battle of battles. The enemy will not outflank us. We are in hiding. We will surface at just the right time in just the right place. We are following the orders of our King and marching secretly through the night and into twilight toward the rising Sun. He alone knows what awaits us there.

In the meantime, let's all take off our shoes, enter the chamber and wait for Him there.

mmm...waiting and praying with you to see what God does next. Finally found a good job, still praying and dreaming about California, and waiting to see what happens with Epic.
When you guys are settled again I'd still love to have that conversation about "surgical prayer."

Let me know if there's anything I can do to help you guys out.

That was an awesome post. Your last paragraph, those are exact things the LORD is speaking into my heart these days. it's like the Jason Upton song, "I will wait". Seeking first His Kingdom and His righteousness... and Revelation 12 also comes to mind. The battle.
Kirk, thanks for praying for us (Adam D. told me he emailed you). The LORD revealed Himself in a very powerful way that night.
I am praying for you and your family about the home situation in Canmore.
God bless you guys.

Kirk: Thanks so much for this encouraging post. Still checking your blog and praying into your "place of rest". In quietness and confidence you will find strength..

"For the vision is yet for an appointed time and it hastens to the end [fulfillment]; it will not deceive or disappoint. Though it tarry, wait [earnestly] for it, because it will surely come; it will not be behindhand on its appointed day." Habakkuk 2:3

Please pray that God reveals something to us soon.... His Word through another. Sometimes you hit those bumps in the road of faith... and you want to hear God speak through someone to you. Not just anyone, but someone where you say at the end, "That was totally God - there was no way they knew such and such!" Do you know what I mean? Face to face revelation. Silence can be deadly. Dar and I just want to know that we are not insane and that God is in this transition. Sometimes it gets a bit vague.

We still have no idea where we will be living, or if any of this is about Canmore at all :) At least we are all together as a family on the journey. Luke starts school and Bree pre-school in two days.

Paul and Corey have been wonderful hosts... Their home is wonderful... so good to be here amidst all the unknowns.

Don't know if this means anything but in praying for you I kept getting the word "glorious". I think it was in relation to a sword. Also, something to do with springs and wells.
Then I found this scripture:

Deuteronomy 33:28-29 (New International Version)

28 So Israel will live in safety alone; Jacob's spring is secure in a land of grain and new wine,
where the heavens drop dew.

29 Blessed are you, O Israel!
Who is like you,
a people saved by the LORD ?
He is your shield and helper
and your glorious sword.
Your enemies will cower before you,
and you will trample down their high places. [a] "

Any thoughts on this?? (Sometimes I wonder if I just make these things up.)

Hey Kirk,

Those are good words about the rod. "Let a righteous man strike me, it is a kindness. Let him rebuke me, it is oil on my head; my head will not refuse it."

I'm excited to see what God has lined up for the you and your family. I remember you telling me and Kieran about all the different things that had lined up that day at the BBQ. Sounds like God is in this. Me and a bunch of guys from school have been so grateful for God's grace and work through the unique gifts that he's given you. I pray he continues to pour out that blessing and training.

Cathy and Adam, you are both onto something with your prayers and texts. God gave me a new glorious sword a while back and it was to be used for preaching. Being in Canmore is tied to a wonderful community here digging a well of leadership together. Both passages (Deut. 33 and Psalm 141) speak of triumph over enemies amidst the crags of the mountains.

Cathy, thanks for your continued prayer and word support - I am growing to value your encouragement more and more.

Adam, I look forward to connecting with you and the guys on campus again.

Kirk, I have been praying for you and your family as the Holy Spirit leads. We met at Campusfire last year in Richmond - all us 'moms' praying for you in the back room.
May God continue to unfold his plans for you as you go. It is such a faith stretch in these days. Bless you.
Rose
PS will be praying about the Saskatoon 35th Reawakening Conference in March
